FAQ
Frequently asked questions.

If you're new to sideloading, read these answers carefully before installing anything on your everyday device.

Is Scarlet a jailbreak? ?
No. Scarlet is not a jailbreak and does not exploit your device. It's a signing and installation tool that uses standard iOS mechanisms to install apps, similar to other sideloading solutions.
Is using Scarlet safe? ?
Any time you install apps from outside the App Store, you should understand the risks. Only install IPA files from sources you trust and always keep backups of important data. Scarlet itself does not collect your Apple ID or personal credentials.
What iOS versions are supported? ?
Scarlet is designed with modern iOS versions in mind, typically iOS 14 and later. Some methods or specific features may work on older builds, but support can vary depending on Apple's latest changes.
Why do apps get revoked? ?
Apple can invalidate certificates used to sign apps that aren't distributed through the App Store. When that happens, any apps signed with that certificate will stop opening. Scarlet tries to reduce downtime, but revocations are controlled by Apple.
Can Scarlet be removed easily? ?
Yes. You can delete Scarlet just like any normal app. If you installed a configuration profile, you can remove it from Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Once removed, the certificate will no longer be trusted.
